Maribel Arce, Director of Grants & Planning, PEACE, Inc.
Maribel has dedicated her career to advancing solutions that improve the lives of people living in poverty. Previously, she held various non-profit leadership roles, including Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Syracuse Community Center Collaborative, Executive Director of the University Neighborhood Preservation Association, and Community Services Director at Community Action Partnership for Madison County.
Through her decade-long experience in international development, she brings a global perspective to local initiatives. Maribel’s expertise lies in human services, community engagement, economic development, and microfinance training. She holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree in Business from Universidad Católica Boliviana. Originally from Bolivia, Maribel and her family have made the City of Syracuse their home since 2011.
Carolyn Brown, Executive Director, PEACE, Inc.
Carolyn Brown is the Executive Director of PEACE, Inc., the Community Action Agency for Onondaga County, which provides low-income residents in the City of Syracuse and all of Onondaga County with the tools, support, and resources to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. Joining PEACE, Inc. in 2007, Carolyn served in a variety of roles at the agency and is honored to work alongside a diverse group of employees dedicated to helping people and strengthening our community.
Looking for ways to contribute to and better understand our community, Carolyn serves on the boards of Hiscock Legal Aid, Early Childhood Alliance, and the steering committee of Human Services Leadership Council. With a strong belief in collaboration and innovation, Carolyn values partnerships.
With respect to formal education, she earned a law degree from Fordham University in 1990 and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Holy Cross College in 1987. Carolyn is married to her husband of almost 35 years, Edward Brown, partner at Wolff, Goodrich, and Goldman, and they live in the Strathmore neighborhood of Syracuse where they raised their three children.
Todd Goehle, VP of Operations & Strategy, PEACE, Inc.
Todd Goehle is Vice President of Operations and Strategy at PEACE, Inc. Serving a range of planning, development, and community engagement roles at PEACE, Inc., Todd previously worked with New American communities at RISE (Refugee and Immigrant Self-Empowerment), and he is active in a number of advocacy groups across the region. Before his current nonprofit career, Todd was a SUNY-Award winning Lecturer of History and Humanities at SUNY Geneseo and a Study Abroad Lecturer in Eastern Europe. He also researched, wrote, and presented widely on 1960s social/protest movements across the globe. Throughout his career, Todd has been committed to pursuing community-based research and developing inclusive services that both advance and empower marginalized communities.
Todd holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Toronto and SUNY Geneseo respectfully. Born and raised outside of Rochester, Todd lives in the city of Syracuse with his wife Theresa -a Schoolteacher at Solvay Union Free School District- and their 2-year-old son.
