On Friday, March 17 at 12:05 p.m., FOCUS Greater Syracuse held a free, virtual FOCUS Forum on the Syracuse STEAM High School.
The STEAM School – which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics – will be the first collaborative school of its kind in Central New York. The high school will offer a rigorous academic curriculum with a focus on the principles of STEAM, providing students a rich project and skills-based program to make them college and career ready. The school will be open to students from the SCSD as well as from the OCM BOCES component school districts.
The STEAM school offers an innovative, collaborative approach with partners such as the City of Syracuse, the Syracuse City School District, Onondaga County and Onondaga, Cortland and Madison County BOCES, CenterState CEO, MACNY, and other business, government, and higher education partners. Students will be provided with expertise from these industry leaders as well mentoring, internships, and job shadows.
